A PC built into an Adidas shoebox.

The PC In A Shoebox (That’s Actually Insanely Powerful)

This must be the ultimate portable PC.  Small enough to fit into a shoebox but powerful enough to play anything and everything at max settings.

Created by Redditor Thatoe, this micro-build is a monster in miniature form.

Thatoe explained that the idea for the build came about when he found out that he would be moving and had to sell his gaming desktop.  After researching gaming laptops and seeing the significant compromises that would need to be made for a mobile set-up, he changed his plans when a friend pointed him towards the small Dan Cases A4-SFX case.  A case that fits into a shoebox.

Check this out:

Here are the components:

  • Case: DAN Cases – A4SFXV2-B Mini ITX Desktop Case
    CPU: Intel – Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua – NH-L9i 33.8 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus – ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard
    Memory: G.Skill – Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
Storage: Samsung – 960 EVO 1TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
Graphics Card: EVGA – GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC2 Video Card

You can read Thatoe’s reviews on the components on PC Part Picker.

Excluding the monitor, the whole set-up fits snugly in a carry on bag – and there are options for mobile monitors should this ever need to be a truly mobile rig.  Absolutely incredible.
