What Co-op Games Are Coming Out in 2017?

Personally, I love co-op games. You get to play not just by yourself, but also with real-life friends or people you meet online.

Co-op games introduce a social element into gaming that is sometimes lacking. And allow you to team up with your friends to defeat enemies or complete puzzles.

If you love co-op games too, then this list is for you! We’re going through a list of co-op games that are due to be released in 2017. We’ll also give you a brief preview of the ones we’re most excited about.

What’s coming out?

Currently, the co-op titles due for release this year are:

M.E.R.C, Double Dragon IV, Gunnihilation, Sniper Elite 4, For Honor, Halo Wars 2, Vikings – Wolves of Midgard, LEGO Worlds, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, Troll and I, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, Cuphead, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and Divinity: Original Sin 2.

In other words, there’s plenty to look forward too.

I’m pretty excited for all of these, but there’s a couple which I literally can’t wait for:

Sniper Elite 4

I love this series. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had gaming has involved these games.

Now I know you’re going to call me childish. But I just think it’s hilarious to use my high-powered sniper rifle to shoot a Nazi straight in his balls. I laugh every time. I literally can’t help myself.

Apart from making me giggle like a schoolboy, these games are very technically good and the graphics and gameplay in Sniper Elite 4 looks better than ever. So I’m very much looking forward to dusting off my scope and getting back to Nazi hunting.

The co-op element is another aspect of the game that’s great fun. You and a friend can assist each other in sniping, or you can compete for kills. You can play co-op both in online and the campaign mode, so it’s not restricted either and you get a great deal of choice about how you play.

For Honor

This is a hack ‘n’ slash combat based game where you control a single character and do battle with other players and their teams.

From what I’ve seen it looks like great fun. The combat seems deep and learnable, but still highly balanced. This means that cooperation is massively important, as having a numbers advantage will allow you to quickly overwhelm your enemies.

In addition, the graphics look great, and there is plenty of opportunity to customize the look of your character too.

Unfortunately, the single player mode doesn’t look great so far. But hopefully they can improve that before the game is released, because it’s got great potential.

LEGO Worlds

LEGO games are usually great fun and this one doesn’t disappoint. Worlds is currently available for play on Steam early access, but is due to be officially released in February of this year.

This is a Sandbox type game, LEGO’s attempt at a rival to Minecraft, and it’s absolutely brilliant.

You can freely explore the environment, which is huge and incredibly varied. In addition, you can craft things out of Lego blocks using your multi-tool, and then save them so you can create them again.

There’s a massive amount of freedom to customize and create a world in your image.

If you like the look of Worlds, then there’s no need to wait. Even though it isn’t officially released until February, you can pick up the early release version now for almost half of its full price. And it’ll be upgraded to the full version when it is officially released, so there’s really no reason not to.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

I am very excited about this game. The Mass Effect series has been incredible, and this one looks to be the best yet.

Andromeda is set in a futuristic world in which the human race is desperately seeking a new home-planet. You will play as the “Pathfinder” half explorer, half warrior. It is your goal to find this new planet for humans to inhabit.

Along the way you will explore new planets, some inhabitable and some not, as well as encountering numerous alien civilizations. You must choose who to fight and who to seek alliances with. The fate of the human race depends on it.

Andromeda looks to have incredible graphics, along with a huge universe to explore.

If you have any interest in Sci-fi at all, then you’ll almost certainly love this game.

Sea of Thieves

I’ve always liked the idea of being a pirate. I loved Pirates of the Caribbean when I was a kid and I’ve always thought that a pirate based game could be really fun, but haven’t yet found one that I thought was any good.

Sea of Thieves looks pretty decent though, and I’m hoping it’ll be the game that will let me fulfil my pirate dreams.

So far, the game looks pretty good. It has a deliberately cartooney look to it, and mostly seems to involve sailing your ship around and engaging in massive cannon battles with rival crews. There are other interesting touches such as the inclusion of mermaids and a “ship of the dammed” which you are taken to upon death and have to escape to return to the world of the living. I’m just hoping it turns out as good as it looks.

There’s our list of the co-op games we’re most looking forward to in 2017. I’m particularly excited for Sniper Elite 4 and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Are there any you’re really excited for? Did we miss any out? Let us know in the comments below!
