Gamer New Years Resolution: Buy Less Games, Complete More

2017 is coming – fast. We’ve put together some New Year Resolutions that every gamer should consider. And we didn’t mention gyms or dieting because, no.

There aren’t just too many games to play, there are too many GREAT games to play – it will be impossible to play even half of the quality titles released in 2017.

Sales will be your worst nightmare, preying on your desire to play these great games.  Steam, GOG, Humble, PlayStation Store, and so on – they are all engineered to persuade you to part with your hard earned cash, offering ridiculously low prices for AAA titles.

£10 for an incredible game?  Heck yeah.

Except, you still have 24 other great games to play in your back catalogue, plus 31 good ones, 14 decent ones, and another 57 that game with those pesky Humble Bundles.

This year, don’t buy every great game that you see listed for a low price; by the time you finally play it the price may be lower anyway.  Instead, make a resolution to complete more games.

Be realistic and remove the games you have no interest in ever playing from your list – sell them if possible, or just hide them in your Steam list.  Focus purely on the games that are worthy of your time.

Now, play them and actually complete them.

I’ve made a resolution to not buy another game unless it’s a game that I’m going to play right there and then.  I refuse to spend another penny on a game that will just get lost in my Steam pile of shame.  I’ve also organised my video games into the order I’m going to play them, mixing epic 40+ hour adventures with quaint 2-3 hour experiences.
