The Best Looking MMORPG Is About To Get Even More Beautiful

Pearl Abyss have partnered with Silicon Studio for graphical technology research, with Black Desert Online’s visuals to benefit from the relationship.

Black Desert Online is a stunning game, no doubt, but developer Pearl Abyss has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Silicon Studio to step things up to the next level.

Silicon Studio is reknown for their work on 3D Dot Game Heroes, Bravely Default, and Muramasa for “bilateral technical cooperation”, but are also very prominent developers of middleware and game engine solutions for PC and mobile games. They created YEBIS, which is widely known for being the best post-processing optical effects. YEBIS was utilised in Bloodborne and Dark Souls III, to name a few titles.

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Silicon Studio will be working with Pearl Abyss to engage in graphics technology research and game engine development.

Pearl Abyss CEO, Kyoungin Jung, said: “Black Desert Online already boasts outstanding graphics, but with the cooperation of Silicon Studio, we will be able to elevate the game’s visuals to an even greater degree of fidelity.”

Silicon Studio’s Lead Software Engineer, Masaki Kawase, said: “Pearl Abyss is a very competent company. With their help, we will be able to bring out the full potential of YEBIS and foster a new generation of technology development.”

Black Desert Online features one of the best character creation suites seen in gaming. I’m not even mad that I paid £25 for BDO just for Pearl Abyss to lower the price to £9.99; I’ve had my money back in screenshots. If you haven’t played, and you love MMORPG’s, you really should.
