Forza Horizon 3 Car Costs Over £80 In Real Money

I’m all for microtransactions when they don’t ruin the experience, but Forza Horizon 3 is walking a dangerous line. Or driving the dangerous white lines, if you will.

Here’s the thing: Forza Horizon 3 costs between £40 and £60 – it isn’t a free to play game that needs microtransactions to be viable. It’s a triple-A title with a loyal following.

Despite that, Forza Horizon 3 has launched optional microtransactions for cars and upgrades, giving those who pay the option to bypass earning anything and, y’know, bypassing the whole game, basically.

The most expensive vehicle is an Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, which costs a whopping £83.49 in real world coins.

For full disclosure, the Alfa Romeo costs 10,000,000 Credits, which is the equivalent of 20,000 tokens, which can be purchased for £83.49.

The tokens, which are available via the Windows 10 store, come in various bundles:

  • 100 Tokens: £0.79
  • 325 Tokens: £2.49
  • 575 Tokens: £4.19
  • 1,250 Tokens: £8.39
  • 2,700 Tokens: £16.74
  • 8,000 Tokens: £41.74
  • 20,000 Tokens: £83.49

One token is then valued at around 500 Credits.

The microtransactions are completely optional, but there is the danger that Forza Horizon 3 players who do not spend will be upstaged by those who have paid for performance-boosting modifications, or insanely powerful sports cars.
