With Death Stranding not due for release until 2018 at the earliest, Kojima has revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is the 2017 game he is looking forward to.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Kojima said “[l]ooking ahead, for games, my pick would have to be Red Dead Redemption.”
This is not the first time Kojima has expressed his interest in a Rockstar title, having commented in 2013 that “Rockstar’s team are the best,” and that he felt “depressed” worrying that Metal Gear Solid V may not reach the same level as Grand Theft Auto V.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released to much critical acclaim in September 2015, but would prove to be the final swansong for the relationship between Kojima and Konami. Having left the Metal Gear franchise behind to create his own video game company, Kojima will now be turning his attentions towards Death Stranding and his other video game ventures. And, y’know, Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Autumn 2017.
