Because your To Do List could be doing with a few more, right?
GOOD NEWS! The Steam Halloween Sale is now on! Don’t try and hide your wallet, that never works. These are the games you MUST BUY!
Dead Rising 3 Ridiculous weapons, satisfyingly gore zombie-slaying combat and a seemingly endless hoard of the undead to maim in truly brutal ways. The campaign is a little lengthy, but the pure fun of going on zombie mauling rampages is worth the price of admission alone.
Limbo is short, but beautiful – a must buy at any time of the year. This is one of the most atmospheric games you will ever play, and the length of the journey may be a bonus for those grown-ups out there with limited time. You’ll be entertained for every moment and will remember this game forever.
Building on what made Limbo so great, this incredible game will leave you speechless when the credits roll. Interpreting the meaning and message behind it all has lead to many heated forum debates around the world. Once again, the journey is short but expertly executed. Play it without reading any spoilers – you won’t regret it.
Metro 2033: Redux
The atmosphere and unique design choices within this post-apocalyptic game makes it worth the price of admission alone. Redux builds on the already stellar Metro 2033, improving it immeasurably in almost every area. Fans of Fallout 4 owe it to themselves to give Metro 2033 a shot.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Hands down, one of the scariest games in a decade. The atmosphere infused into Amnesia is as powerful as they come. From the first few moments, you will be taken along a tale of terror, keeping you on your toes from the get-go. Horror fans looking for a genuinely menacing game to play this Halloween owes it to themselves to pick Amnesia up. Do it.
Dead Space 2 A more action-packed horror game than the aforementioned Amnesia, but a game that carries a strong premise and an involving story. The world is creepy, the action is frantic, the combat is rewarding, and there are more than enough scary moments to get your skin crawling.
The Walking Dead Game
This is one of my favorite games ever. There, I said it. Even if you aren’t a fan of the hit TV series, you owe it to yourself to play this truly special game. If you’re a parent, it will resonate with you deeper than any other game you will ever play. The relationships you build and the decisions you will make will stick with you forever. Please buy it. You owe it to yourself. (The Walking Dead: Season Two is also on sale and is just as good.)
Another short game, but one packed with atmosphere. The tension as you wander around the creepy theme park will change the way you look at Disneyland forever. Okay, maybe not…but still, an excellent choice for Halloween.
Oxenfree More of an experience than a game per se, but one you will love from beginning to end. The branching dialogue carries the story, and the breathtaking art style will leave you wanting more.
If you haven’t played Bioshock yet then WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN and, buy it and play it RIGHT NOW. Honestly, one of the greatest games of this generation, if not of all time. Rapture is one of the greatest video game locations of all time, and the haunting stories of those driven mad on the ocean floor is so moving and yet so unnerving. The Plasmids add depth to combat and the sound of a Big Daddy stomping in the distance will get the blood pumping every time. Buy. It. Now.
With such amazing games available at incredibly reasonable prices, this is a wonderful time to be a PC gamer. It doesn’t matter how big your Pile of Shame has become; you owe it to yourself to add these titles to the top of the list this Halloween.
