Planetside 2 Receives Festive Update

Merry Auraximas! Daybreak has brought back the classic event along with two new rocket launchers, armour, plus Christmas hats and weapons. Who said war had to be ugly?

While the war between the Terran Republic, Vanu Sovereignty and New Conglomerate may not fall silent for a Christmas truce and a game of football, but Planetside 2 players can still celebrate.

The rocket launchers included in the update are the NSX Masamune and the Rocklet Rifle. The Masamune deals damage on par with the Decimator, firing four unguided rockets from the hip and a guided barrage when using the scope.  The Rock;et Rifle is smaller and provides Light Assaults with the ability to wage war with vehicles, causing flak explosions.

There are special Christmas hats and weapons available for particularly festive warriors, along with the wonderfully named Snowball Gun and the Icikill Knife (I’m buying this out of principle).

Esamir, the icy continent, is now littered with Snowmen to bring festive cheer, awarding XP and prized loot when they are “killed.”  Other continents feature other festivities, so keep an eye out for them!

As a few extra special touches, ammo boxes are now full of sweets (or Candy, if you’re across the pond) while C4 packages look like presents.

The patch also brings improvements and bug fixes under the hood, which you can read about in the patch notes over on the Planetside 2 website.

See you on the battlefield!
