The most expensive Pokemon card ever.

Rarest Pokemon Card In The World Sells for Huge Price

It’s safe to say my shiny Charizard can’t hold a flaming tail to this.

As we reported back in October, the 1998 Pikachu Illustrator promo hologram card was given an auction projection of $50,000.

The Pikachu Illustrator card, in mint condition, has finally done under the hammer and fetched $54,970 at a Beverley Hills auction by Heritage Auctions, as reported by CNBC.

$54,970.

The card, featuring Pikachu holding a quill, is one of only 39 ever released, and was only awarded as a prize in an illustration contest through CoroCoro Comic and a handful of other contests in 1998 – they were never made available for public sale.

As we previously reported, three first place CoroCoro winners got the card, along with 20 second place winners – a pretty sweet price, when you consider the value has doubled since 2000, when another Pikachu Illustrator promo hologram card sold for $23,000.

I’ll trade my Charizard for it..?
