Twitch Streamer Dies During 24-Hour Charity Livestream

Police are investigating the death of a popular Twitch streamer who died towards the end of a 24-hour marathon gaming session.

Brian “PoShYbRiD” Vigneault died of unknown causes during a 24-hour World of Tanks marathon he was streaming to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Viewers said that the 35-year-old father of three left the computer at the 22-hour point to take a smoke break and didn’t return to the screen again.

“He was in rough shape,” said Jessica Gebauer, a friend of Vigneault’s and fellow streamer.  “I watched him until about half an hour before he said he’d be right back,” she said. “He just looked really, really tired. We were telling him, ‘Go to sleep. The stream can wait.'”

Initially, viewers assumed he’d fallen asleep, but Virginia Beach police said they responded to a 911 call for a cardiac arrest. Vigneault was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time it is unknown if Vigneault’s death is a result of the 24-hour marathon, the likes of which have been reported often in the news.

Vigneault reportedly raised over $11,000 for various charities for the duration of his five-year-career as a streamer.  Fans can pay their respects on his Twitch channel, which has since been declared a “memorial channel” by moderators.
