Witcher 3 Dev Given $7m To Research Seamless Multiplayer, City Creation, And More

The Polish government has given The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red the equivalent of $30 million to research new game features, as announced on WCCFTECH.

The money came from the Polish National Center for Research and Development’s GameINN program, who received and approved four proposals from CD Projekt Red.

CD Projekt Red’s four proposals, as confirmed by a chart on the official NCBR website, were for funding towards research and development for:

  • “Seamless multiplayer”
  • “City creation”
  • “Animation excellence”
  • “Cinematic feel”

The Polish government has shown a strong level of support to video game developers in their country, giving over $45 million for almost 40 games to developers including Techland, Vivid Games, 11 Bit Studios, and The Farm 51.

These research efforts aren’t guaranteed to result in huge expansions to The Witcher 3 but could impact future games in The Witcher series, or other CD Projekt Red titles, including the forthcoming Cyberpunk 2077.
