Report: Bethesda Working On Game of Thrones Project

BY MAX MOELLER: A Game of Thrones game made by the guys behind Elder Scrolls and Fallout sounds like a wet dream, no? Well, it’s time to wake up, as this dream might be a reality.

It’s not much to go on, but Target seems to have leaked the project. As of this posting, they have a featured brands page with the title: “Bethesda: Game of Thrones.” While it’s not an image or a video, those words grouped have no chance of being an accident.

The page was first spotted by NeoGaf, though they don’t seem as excited as one would think. Game of Thrones is a franchise known for its compelling writing. While the developers over at Bethesda are masters of creating immersive worlds, they tend to fall flat on the storytelling aspect of game design. Maybe this could be a chance for them to step their game up in the writing department.

This wouldn’t be the first time we see the beloved franchise in our favorite medium. TellTale took an episodic stab at it back in 2014, with the game receiving six episodes and a second season currently in development.

Styx developer Cyanide Studios released a GoT RPG back in 2012, though it was received poorly.

Not to mention Bethesda currently has multiple unannounced projects. There is a fair chance of this rumor being true. They already have experience with dragons, too.

Do you think Bethesda could make a solid “Game of Thrones” experience? We do. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
